Former royal residence, the Compiègne castle was built in the 18th century and is home to royal and imperial apartments, but also the Car and Tourism museum as well as the Second Empire museum. Outside the palace, the Beaux-Monts park and path are not to be missed.

The town hall of finishing Gothic style is covered by a belfry, which contains one of the oldest municipal bells in France. Nearby, a Historic Figurine museum exhibits a large number of figurines.

Around the city, the Compiègne forest, a former royal forest, extends over 15,000 hectares. A cycle track between Pierrefonds and Compiègne is offered to cycle fans.
