Nestling at the edge of a lake, the small town of Combourg is dominated by the towers of its feudal castle.

The romantic writer François-René de Chateaubriand marked the history of the city. He lived in the medieval castle when he was young and wrote : “It is in the Combourg wood that I became what I am“. Open to visitors, the castle of the 13th and 15th centuries is home to the room as well as recollections of the famous writer.
