Area of apple trees, the Pays d'Auge is famous for its cider production carrying an AOC quality label. The 40-kilometre "Route du Cidre" cider trail, which passes through typical villages, such as Cambremer, Beuvron-en-Auge and Bonnebosq, is a must for visitors.
Calvados is a cider brandy that also carries the AOC quality label. The traditional Normandy "trou" is a glass of calvados served in the middle of a meal. Pommeau, another local speciality, is an aperitif made of calvados and apple juice.
