From Advent to Epiphany, Alsace celebrates the Christmas break with authenticity and warmth. Streets, houses and shop windows are illuminated and decorated with magnificent Christmas decorations. The Christmas markets are a great time of celebration and traditions with the essential spiced mulled wine and the delicious Christmas cakes flavoured with cinnamon. A magic and unforgettable moment! In Alsace, Christmas is always celebrated with cakes such as gingerbread, bredele (little Christmas cakes in numerous shapes) and Christstollen (brioche-like Christmas cake with raisins, candied fruits and marzipan, and sprinkled with icing sugar).
