Opened on the sea, the city of Cherbourg-Octeville is situated north of the Cotentin peninsula and possesses a rich maritime heritage. Created in the 18th century, the Cherbourg-Octeville harbor is the largest artificial harbor in the world. To better discover the harbor and its forts, boat trips are offered to visitors.
