Dominating majestically the Loire river, the Chaumont-sur-Loire castle was built in the 15th and 16th centuries. It used to belong to Catherine de Médicis and then to her rival Diane de Poitiers. Opened to visits, its apartments are home to magnificent tapestries and allow visitors to discover among others the rooms of Catherine de Médicis and Diane de Poitiers, the council room and the library. Of the castle terrace, the panorama of the Loire valley is magnificent. An event not to be missed: the International Gardens festival, which takes place in the park of the castle from June to October every year and brings together landscape painters from all over the world. This creative and colourful event reveals magnificent vegetable compositions and works around a given topic. A delight for view and smell. Superb! | LOCALISATION IN LOIR-ET-CHER | | | |
