The medieval Château de Tournoël stands like a sentry high on a hill above Volvic. Built in the 12th century, this former fortress was attacked five times during its history and remodelled after each siege.

The castle apartments, guardroom, kitchens, chapel and chatelaine's gardens are open to the public and the large keep offers a fantastic panoramic view over La Limagne and Forez mountains.
