Situated in Dampierre-en-Yvelines in the Chevreuse valley, the Château de Dampierre was built in the 17th century by the architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart for the duke of Chevreuse. Property of the family De Luynes since 1663, this elegant brick and stone building surrounded by moats is a beautiful example of Classical style. Take a tour of the interior for the wonderful works of art and wooden panelling, including a fresco by Ingres depicting The Golden Age.
Created by the famous landscape designer Le Nôtre, the vast and very romantic park of the castle is a lovely place for a walk.
