This palace is a former princely residence, and consists of a small castle dating from the 16th century and a big castle built in the 19th century located in Chantilly. It is today possible to visit the apartments of the princes Condé and of the duke Aumale, as well as the Condé museum exhibiting a prestigious collection of old paintings.
Outside, there's a wonderful 115-hectare park to stroll around featuring gems like the Grand Canal, the flowerbeds of the Le Nôtre formal French garden, a landscaped garden, Sylvie's house and a hamlet. An aerostat, a tethered balloon that floats over the estate, offers an unrestricted view of the château, the park and the surrounding countryside.
To complete the tour of the chateau of Chantilly, one must absolutely take a little time with the Manse Pavilion, a building erected at the same time as the castle, and used his time to provide water fountains in the park. Fully restored by an association and a few brave volunteers, you can discover in working order, the different types of pumps (wood and steel) that have allowed this building to continue, until the late 19th century.
