The village of Charroux has well has preserved its high octagonal tower dating from the 11th century. This tower, said of Charlemagne, is all that remains of the Saint-Sauveur abbey. The cloister and the chapter house of this famous Benedictine abbey also remain. The chapter house is today home to a museum exhibiting Gothic sculptures, the treasure and a model of the abbey.
