The Charolais cow, originally from Saône-et-Loire in Burgundy, has a white coat and horns and is known for its maternal qualities. This breed of cow is also highly appreciated for its quality meat, which is finely marbled, tender and flavoursome.
In Nièvre, where Charolais cows are bred, a world-renowned cattle auction market takes place every Tuesday morning in Moulins-Engilbert. To find out more about how the Charolais cow is reared, head to the House of Livestock Farming and the Charolais in Moulins-Engilbert!
