Offering a wealth of places of interest to discover, the Charente valley is endowed with remarkable sites, such as Angoulême, Cognac, Jarnac, Bassac and its abbey, and Verteuil-sur-Charente.
Other places that should not be missed: Saint-Simon, a village situated along the river where barges used to be manufactured, these traditional boats used for goods transportation. A signposted circuit shows visitors the evidence of its rich past. To discover the magnificent natural and built heritage of the Charente valley, you only need to walk or cycle along the towpaths, take a boat cruise or go canoeing or kayaking on the river.
