The town of Châlons-en-Champagne has preserved much evidence of its past as shown by its timber-framed facades and its religious buildings.

Not to be missed, the Saint-Etienne cathedral of Gothic architecture, is adorned with beautiful ancient stained glass windows. From the canal footbridge linking the Grand Jard and Jard Anglais walkways, the view of the cathedral is magnificent.

The City of Art and History is also of interest to visitors for the Notre-Dame-en-Vaux church, an ancient collegiate church of Romanesque and Gothic style, which is home to beautiful 16th-century stained glass windows. Next to this building, the museum of the Notre-Dame-en-Vaux Cloister exhibits remarkable sculptures and statues, remains which used to decorate the former cloister.

Right in the heart of the city, the Jard park is composed of three gardens, and is a lovely green space to wander around. The Petit Jard, a landscaped garden; the Grand Jard, a French-style formal garden; and the Jard Anglais, situated on the banks of the canal, will delight all walkers.

To discover Châlons-en-Champagne and its heritage from a different angle, there is nothing like a boat tour on the Nau and Mau rivers.

City of Art and History, Chalons-en-Champagne has a rich heritage, both religious and civil. Unavoidable, the St. Stephen's Cathedral and Notre-Dame-en-Vaux, listed as World Heritage by UNESCO, which has a carillon of 56 bells, one of the largest in Europe. Both buildings have stained glass items (windows 12th in the room called the Treasury of the Cathedral). One can also admire the wood-framed houses, beautiful buildings civilians. Today: City Hall, Hotel de Region, Hall Prefecture. Chalons-en-Champagne also has a remarkable natural heritage.
