Nestling in a green environment, the Chalain lake is a magnificent water pond of ice age origin that is 2,9 kilometres long and 1 kilometre wide. This lake is particularly perfect for sports activities. Its sandy beaches are very great for relaxation.

Excavations made on the location allowed to uncover remains of lakeside environments. These findings can be observed in the archaeology museum of Lons-le-Saunier.
