Built in the late 13th century by the Sires of Vichy, then redeveloped over time, Busset Castle, where the future King of France Henry IV stayed in 1589, is both a feudal fortress and a holiday residence, combining the medieval and Renaissance styles in its architecture. Owned by the Busset family from the 15th to the 20th century, the majestic Busset Castle stands behind a drawbridge and gatehouse and is open to the public from May to late September. On a tour of the castle you can see its elegant facades, imposing Tower of Orion, furnished rooms including Henry IV's bedroom, gallery and oratory adorned with old frescoes, its pretty view of the mountains of Auvergne, and its charming French and Italian-style gardens.
