Situated in an unspoiled environment in the heart of the Chevreuse High Valley Regional Nature Park, in Choisel, the Breteuil castle was built in the 17th century, then enlarged in the 18th and 19th centuries, and has been lived by the Breteuil family since 1712. Open to the public, this majestic brick and stone building is home to a goldsmith masterpiece: the magnificent Teschen table, said "Europe table", a real gem decorated with precious stones made by Neuber, goldsmith of the Dresden court. The visit also offers pieces of furniture, family souvenirs and historic scenes animated with wax characters. Around the castle, the magnificent park stretching over 75 hectares is great for romantic walks with its formal gardens, its box tree labyrinth, its Princes garden with multiple varieties of flowers, its charming ponds and its secular trees. In the outbuildings, children will be delightful while admiring the wax characters representing famous heroes of Charles Perrault's fairy tales, such as Sleeping Beauty, Puss in Boots, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and Tom Thumb. |
