Protected by its natural harbour, the city of Brest boasts a maritime and military port. Of its medieval period, the city has preserved its 11th-century castle, modified by Vauban, and its Motte-Tanguy tower, home to the Old Brest museum. Rebuilt after the war, the city centre architecture dates from the fifties.
Océanopolis, the ocean and marine animal discovery park, takes visitors on a tour of the world's seas in its three different pavilions: arctic, temperate and tropical. Fans of giant aquariums will be in heaven!
Every four years, the international Brest Maritime Festival brings together a multitude of traditional sailboats from all over the world.
