Renowned for the quality of its meat and its incomparable flavour, the Bresse poultry is the only poultry that carries the AOC quality label. Quite as the fatted chicken, the capon and the turkey of Bresse, the famous chicken of Bresse, with its white plumage, its red crest and its blue feet, is kept outdoors - in the Bresse prairies - and fed by cereal and dairy products. A prestigious fine poultry contest named the Quatre Glorieuses and honoring the Bresse poultry takes place every year in December. In Louhans, the traditional poultry market takes place every Monday morning.
