In the South of the Tarn and in the North of the Aude, the Black Mountain (Montagne Noire) offers very diverse landscapes. The coolness and fir forests of the northern hillside contrast with the Mediterranean scrubland and vineyards of the southern side. The Pic de Nore, located at an altitude of 1,210 metres, is the highest peak of the Black Mountain (Montagne Noire).
