The road between Villefranche-de-Conflent and Mont-Louis is both beautiful and impressive. The colours in the mountain forests are magnificent, especially in autumn. A typical yellow train follows this route, passing over high viaducts and offering a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside.

There are also some really beautiful villages along this road, including Villefranche-de-Conflent, a 11th-century fortified village at the confluence of two rivers; Serdinya and Evol, authentic mountain villages; and Mont-Louis, the highest fortified village in France (at an altitude of 1,580 metres).
