Berry has been famous for its porcelain since the start of the 19th century and is the leading producer of it in France today. A porcelain and tableware discovery trail (Route de la Porcelaine et des Arts de la Table), which crosses part of the Cher and Indre départements, takes visitors on a tour of porcelain workshops and factories, as well as museums devoted to this "white gold".
The Pôle de la Porcelaine museum in Mehun-sur-Yèvre (Cher) looks back at the history of Berry porcelain, from the 19th century to today, through an originally-designed exhibition of unique pieces and an audiovisual presentation about the birth of porcelain.
You can also visit the Musée de la Porcelaine in Saint-Genou (Indre) for its fun presentation of the different stages of porcelain production and local porcelain history.
