The Bas-Rhin is famous for its high-quality beer since 1260. The tradition is still preserved today. Near Strasbourg, Schiltigheim is a brewing city home to several famous breweries. Other Alsatian breweries are good places to visit, such as those of Obernai, Saverne and Strasbourg. Numerous breweries open their doors to visitors to explain everything to them about the world of beer as well as the brewer profession.
