The Basque villages consist of beautiful white half-timbered houses of various colours. Every Basque village generally has its own fronton court where the Basque ball game of pelota is played. Here are some of these villages:
• Sare, a typical village of the Nivelle valley where a stroll is pleasant;
• Ainhoa, beautiful fortified town of the 13th century;
• Arcangues, with its delightful school and its church which are really worth a visit;
• La Bastide-Clairence, a typical village with red half-timberings and its fronton.
