This game is the king sport in the Basque Country. Every village possesses at least one outdoor fronton court for playing the game. This fronton is generally located on the main square in the village. So the fronton is really is at the centre of the locals' daily life. During summer, competitions take place almost daily. It is played using a sort of wicker basket and a wooden racket. But it is also possible to play with bare hands, which is then considered as the true game.
