The small town of Fayl-Billot, a major centre for reed-growing and basket-making located amid hectares of reed beds in the south of Haute-Marne, contains several sites dedicated to this ancient skill:

The National School of Reed-Growing and Basket-making,

which has trained high-level craftspeople since the early 20th century, invites its visitors to discover its French-style reed garden, exhibition about the work and techniques of reed basket-making, and its collection of old wicker objects;

The House of Basket-making, with an area presenting the reed-growing and basket-making trades, and its exhibition of contemporary wickerwork;

Basket-making workshops, which offer craft demonstrations as well as traditional and more contemporary creations.

In mid-January every year, St. Anthony's Day - a corporate festival for basket-makers - honours the patron saint of the basket-making business. The programme includes a religious service, a ceremony for passing on the baton of St. Anthony, a medal ceremony, a procession by the brotherhood, meals (subject to booking) and more...
