The Alpes-Maritimes is rich in Baroque monuments, buildings, churches, chapels and cathedrals. Baroque art appeared in the Nice county in the 17th century and is mainly characterized by its exuberance and its architectural wealth.

The Gésu church (17th century), the Sainte-Réparate cathedral (17th and 18th centuries) and the Lascaris palace in Nice, the Saint-Pierre aux liens church (17th century) in Escarène, the Saint-Michel cathedral (17th and 18th centuries) in Sospel, and many others, constitute magnificent examples of Baroque art.

In Nice, the Sacred music festival in June offers concerts of holy music in the baroque churches of old Nice.
