The high meadows of the Savoy and the Upper Savoy are always associated to two local cow races: The Tarine, a rustic dairy cow with a fawn dress, and the Abundance, a dairy cow with a white head and clear horns. In spring, the transhumance is an ancient tradition consisting in leading the cows fro, the cowshed to the summer alpages (meadows). The high meadows bring together all the necessary conditions to facilitate the production of a milk of excellent quality intended for the preparation of famous the Savoyard cheeses. A Cow and Alpages museum is to be discovered in Frangy in the Upper Savoy.
