Virigneux is often cited for his calm, gentle scenery and warm hospitality of its inhabitants. Situated atop one of the hills of the Monts du Lyonnais, the village offers a breathtaking panorama. Its location has attracted attention and envy of many lords in the Middle Ages. The church: The present building, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, replace the medieval church that was partly the same place. The date of June 26, 1888, engraved on a stone from the door, mark the laying of the cornerstone.

The Chapel Motasse: It was opened August 5, 1867, to mark the 50th anniversary of the presence of Jean Essertel priest in the parish. She is now buried. This chapel is a modest building with a single nave, with a small belfry surmounted by a Virgin and is dedicated to Mary Help of Christians. It has five windows including the choir, especially noteworthy, representing the Virgin Mary crushing the snake. Just steps from the chapel, is the Jubilee Cross, dated 1827.
