This village is built on the left bank of the Yonne, near the old Roman road of Agrippa. This was perfectly chosen to serve as a deposit and pick the wines of Coulanges-la-Vineuse, hence the name Vincelles ("Vinicellae"). The village was given by St. Palladius, bishop of Auxerre, Saint Germain at the Abbey in the year 635. Several lords possessed the land in turn.
SIGHTSEEING
The facade of the church is simple and pretty. Towards the southern end of the main street, the road runs along the wall of a beautiful park, shaded by beautiful, dark clumps of trees among which stands a small castle built around 1775 elegant enough. This is where spent some time Madame de Stael-Holstein, writer born in Paris.
Vincelles life is pleasant both in the amenities offered by the village (shops, services ...) and the beauty of the frame. The banks of the Yonne attract fishermen and walkers. The recreational craft on the canal may call at Vincelles.
The public library is open from Tuesday afternoon to Saturday noon.
It is possible to play tennis or mini-golf near the hall. Of footpaths and towpaths for walkers and cyclists will meet the athletes of all ages.
