Former municipalities already known to the Merovingian, Villebon was especially known for its horticulture. The fields are often up today to residences, buildings, parks or malls.
Located along the Lazaristes House, opposite the Château de l'Ile-de-France marked by epic charitable St. Vincent de Paul, the Church of St. Cosmas and St. Damian, 400 Old , was recently restored by the companions of Duty. Another church, San Sebastian is situated in the west, near the Truc Lam Buddhist Pagoda.
The Cultural Center-Jacques Brel and the sports center Saint-Exupéry are active. The library, conservatory, Erik Satie, the MJC-Boby Lapointe foster an intense community life. Built in 1983, the Great Dome seats up to 5,000 spectators for major sports events and cultural festivities. The annual Guinguettes along the Yvette and the patronal feasts of Saints Cosmas and Damian drain crowds cheering.
Twinning arrangements have been established with Liederbach (Germany), Witnash (UK), The Rozas de Madrid (Spain) and Mayo Kebi (Chad).
Five hundred twenty industrial and commercial development on areas Courtaboeuf, La Prairie and Breteche, and commercial space Villebon 2, are the economic fabric of Villebon, providing some 10 000 jobs.

The Church of St. Cosmas and St. Damian and the Château de l'Ile-de-France:
The Lord of Nicolas Potier Novion decided to build this church May 24, 1648, after getting Paul de Gondi, archbishop of Paris, the erection of a parish Villebon. 1927 marks the last important historical fact of the Church of St. Cosmas and St. Damian, with the blessing of the new bell Marthe-Lucie-Louise.
In 1987 the municipality decided to implement a program of renovation and technical upgrade of the building to preserve and enhance the historic heritage of the town.
Harmony Renaissance castle and the rustic charm of the Saint Sebastian also symbolize the commitment of the city's past. The recent construction will bring in an original note remains of modernism in the green surroundings of wood and Gelles Parkway Yvette.
The Truc Lam pagoda in Villebon-sur-Yvette:
Truc Lam Pagoda of Villebon-sur-Yvette, like Marseille, is the property of ABVF whose main objective is to maintain faith in Buddhism original vietnamophones for the faithful. The "second generation" is rather speaking, the activities of AVBF are increasingly bilingual and diversified since the Buddhist arts, zen up.
Truc Lam or "bamboo forest" is recognized by the Vietnamese as the name of a Zen school founded in the 13th century by King Tran Nhan Tong who, therefore, had abdicated his throne, left his palace and s' was removed in a forest of bamboo.
Started in 1980, the construction of the pagoda Villebon-sur-Yvette lasted 10 years. It now houses a community of monks, their manager and five other monks whose time is split between instruction and meditation.
The walk of Yvette:
Yvette River, which crosses the Common Villebon-sur-Yvette, rises to Essarts-le-Roi and traveled 34 kilometers. A variety of routes are arranged to travel around the region and have a picnic at the water's edge.
Besides the walks and trails, a wide choice of rest areas is accessible to walkers in the middle of green sites. The banks are cleaned and maintained regularly to preserve the living environment frequented by many Villebon.
