At the foot of Canigou, the mountain of the Catalans, Vernet-les-Bains through its site, is a remarkable village, authentic, protected by the winds and just wonderful to 650 meters.

SIGHTSEEING
The old village: Built in the Middle Ages, the city has maintained high at that time the castle, its church and its flower-decked streets that wind through the village today.
The thermal area, in the lower town, unfolds along the banks of Cady. Inheritance of the Belle Epoque, the Casino and hotel of Portugal crown a rich set of villas, chalets, parks and gardens.
The Canigou: the top of its 2785 meters, it dominates and protects Vernet-les-Bains from which many paths to its peak. The landscapes of the sacred mountain of the Catalans are the scene of many traditional celebrations and sporting events.
The Heritage House (Tel: +33 4 68 05 55 35) consists of a scenic area on the history of Conflent and bathroom regularly hosting exhibitions. Heritage House also houses the Tourist Office which offers guided tours of the old village, signposted routes around Rudyard Kipling, author of The Jungle Book who attended the station and the discovery of the Village Arboretum.
The Geological Museum (Tel: +33 4 68 05 77 97): The Wonders of our French land and sea have disappeared: the museum features more than 10,000 minerals and fossilized marine animals, for a journey of the primary era at the dawn of humanity.
