Small town of 433 permanent residents, and county town of Canton, Valgorge is located in the heart of the Cévennes Ardéchoise in the valley of Baume, located 23 km from Largentière and Joyeuse. It covers 2636 hectares and the altitude varies from 400 to 1500 m.

Valgorge is rich in inter-services (library, community center, kindergarten, relay ...), country has local shops (post office, garage, food, restaurants and hotels) and various associations that help to animate and make live the village throughout the year.

The activities and entertainment available are numerous hiking and biking, cycling, swimming, tennis, soccer, parasailing, fishing, hunting, bowls ...

As you walk, you will have the pleasure to admire the magnificent trees (chestnuts), the churches Chastanet (mid XIX) and Saint-Martin (late nineteenth), wash-houses, bread ovens, Castle Chastanet (residence private) which overlooks the village, and also to pass Meyrand, the orientation table and its exceptional panorama.

Newly installed on the ridge near the Ron Cheylard of the statues of the sculptor Christian Lapie overlooking the village and call for a cultural stroll from the village (marked trail Confluences nomads "). A work of George Stahl, erected in memory of both drivers tracker died August 20, 2005, while trying to extinguish a fire on the town, is located in the district Mazel.
