Tulette derives its name from the Princes of Orange, who named it "thou Ellett", "chosen thee, thou good" in ancient Rome. Throughout his life prestigious names have succeeded: Giuliano della Rovere (later Pope Julius II), whose house is still visible. More recently, Paul Ruat (1862-1938) native Tulette, Majoral of Felibrige in 1918 who never forgot his village. He is the phrase that became the motto of the village "Toustems Free.
