Thorens-Glières is a town of 6,400 hectares located in the highlands (700 m - 2000 m). It consists of two parts. First his village with its castle discreet charms and varied, its church and village festivals. Then this town has two ski resorts. SIGHTSEEING
Castle Thorens: we'll drive through a thousand years of history. Built in 1060, the family of Sales, and then de Roussy de Sales, lives in the castle since 1598. It was the home of St. Francis de Sales (1567-1622). The castle of Sales, who did justice to the Duke of Savoy, was located at a range of arrows Castle Thorens, it was destroyed by order of Richelieu because Louis de Sales, brother of St. Francis, governor of Annecy, was dared to stand for 3 days, the troops of Louis XIII. The plateau Glières: This plate was a hotbed of resistance during World War II, you can remember this period through the national monument of resistance Gilioli, opened September 3, 1973 thanks to routes and walking trails.
The station Montpiton: Located at 1067 m altitude, this small resort allows you to learn to ski with the ski lift, on two tracks through the pines.
