Thorenc is a curiosity, an unlikely site hidden in the trees, which does absolutely nothing to chance. Entirely from the human imagination, this mosaic of architectural and historical, hiding under rocks cervical Bleine, has nothing in common with the typical villages of Nice's hinterland. Moreover, strictly speaking, Thorenc is not a village, but more specifically a station "climacteric" high, built in the late 19th century, which reached the peak tourism grand and luxurious Belle Epoque. The splendor of yesteryear, there remains only the farmhouses, whose style gives unexpected rather incongruous in character: a sort of "here" could easily be an "elsewhere" which is yet in these mountains.

Le Domaine du Haut Thorenc Biological Reserve is a fully dedicated to the conservation of European wildlife, one of the most endangered of the world. It combines, for the first time, ecological tourism and scientific research. You will find many threatened species, whether large mammals such as the European Bison or Przewalski horse, birds such as Golden Eagle, the Griffon Vulture or countless insects.
