The town of Thiron-Gardais was born of an abbey founded by Bernard de Ponthieu in the great spiritual and intellectual leap facing Europe in the early 12th century, which is one of the leaders and probably one of precursors.

The Domaine de l'Abbaye is the abbey church, the tithe barn, theme gardens and the Royal Military College. The tithe barn is a 14th century building renovated in 2006 into the community offices of the Perche Thiron Commons, the tourist office, union associations and the entry of themed gardens of the abbey developed in 2000 in a park of 4 hectares at the foot of the abbey church, monument, one of the longest naves of Eure-et-Loir.
