Thèze, six miles north of Pau, is part of the Vic-Bihl.
Common lands are watered by the Louts, a tributary of the Adour and the Luy, a tributary of the Adour, fed on the town by the brook Balaing.
The place name appears in the forms Thèze Tese (twelfth century, the title Order of Malta), Thees (1270, cartulary of the Chateau de Pau), Teese (1286, titles of Beam), Teez (1301, entry of Santa Fe Morlaàs) Thees (1376, military watch of Beam), and Tézé Teze (respectively 1385 and 14th century census document of Béarn), and Teza Stone Theze (respectively 1544 and 1675, altering Bearn).
Etymologically, the place name indicates: a land forbidden, prohibited. He is originally from a village street, situated on a ridge line to the natural defensive position. The aforade Carrere (main street) was limited by a door (Pourtau) at each end.

SIGHTSEEING
