Located in the valley of Oze, Thenissey is a small village which has retained its authentic charm. Its 11th century church contains frescoes restored in the last century. A beautiful 19th century wash house is located near the main street.

Close to the Gallo-Roman road between Sombernon and Alesia, you are in an ideal location for walking on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. An equestrian center offers horse riding or pony for all levels.

Castle Thenissey offers groomed trails for 4x4 enthusiasts.

The town is located a short drive from the village of Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, site of the battle of Alesia, the village of Alise-Sainte-Reine, Castle Bussy-Rabutin, the Abbey of Fontenay and forges of Buffon.

The greenway path along the Burgundy Canal passes Venarey-les-Laumes (15 km), and Montbard.

You can also take the train from the station to visit Thenissey Dijon, the capital of the Dukes of Burgundy (35 min).

In summer, the pool of sub-Verrey Salmaise (7 km) is open and you are not far from two beautiful lakes: Lake Bridge, near Semur-en-Auxois, and the reservoir near Sombernon Grosbois . Children will be delighted to visit the animal park Vitteaux.
