Thenay, extended over an area of 3421 hectares, is located along the river "Hollow" and is part of the Parc Naturel Régional de la Brenne and the Community of Communes Brenne - Val de Creuse. It includes several hamlets "La Ribera", "The Renauderie" CONIVE "," The Nébilons "," Land "and the town.

Cited in the middle of the 17th century under the name "De Thenayo", the town has preserved ancient houses and typical attesting to the wine business for centuries.

Castle CONIVE the 15th and 19th centuries is private.

The church of the 12th and 15th centuries, rebuilt in the 19th has a bell tower and slate roof of a portal arches of the 12th century. It consists of a nave with two capitals and interesting 15th century Gothic chapels.

In the village, winegrowers' houses, some with covered galleries.

Two fountains remain, one covered in the town and the other on the hamlet of CONIVE.

The town is bisected by Route Verte (pedestrians and cyclists).
