The town of Simandre-sur-Suran is located in the Suran valley, between the towns of Villereversure and Chavannes-sur-Suran.

Suran valley lies at the heart of Revermont. The Suran, born in the Jura department, spawning his way quietly in a karst terrain where its waters are lost sometimes in his bed underground. A quiet valley where the water flows randomly. You can enjoy strolling in you, mills, crossing fords, meanders, castle ruins, through a rich past.

Roman road "Via Agrippa": After the conquest of Gaul by Caesar in 58 BC, the Suran valley enjoyed during the Roman peace, the near Lyon whence the famous Roman roads. One of them, whose route roughly follows that of the current provincial road 42, through the valley. It was used for trade and transport of salt from Saline, and for transporting troops to Germany.

Menhir "Peter sheet" (Historical Monument): A Simandre-sur-Suran along the old Roman road, stands the single menhir of the department. It dates from 2500 BC (Bronze Age) and measures 3.80 m in height.

Chartreuse de Sélignac, founded in 1202: On the road to Corveissiat in a narrow valley, sits this imposing building. Before going on a crusade, the Lord of Coligny donated land Sélignac the Carthusian Order. Since 1211 and until 2001, the monks lived in Sélignac.
