Located on the left bank of the Asse Blieux of the village is accessible only by a single arch bridge completed in 1770.
Senez is a very common size, but are only a small number of houses in Provencal style.
The valley is relatively narrow, the village is set in a "jewel" of relief with steep enough to vibrate the highest mountain at 1670 meters. We can point out some remarkable sites such as clues to Taulanne ( "pierced rock") and some curiosities as geological outcrops of gypsum at a place called "the gipas. The gypsum has long been used as a binder for the construction of the village.
The site was known as the capital of a Gallic tribe, and described by Pliny the Elder as a Roman town called Sanitensium or Salimensium. The latter stood on the "via Salinaria" Vence linking to Sisteron. Witness the milestone near the pass of Saint Peter, recently restored by the municipality and filed.
Senez became bishop in the 5th century. The cathedral, in its current form is dated from the twelfth to thirteenth centuries.
The clearance of bishops Senez resulted in the construction of a castle on "the rock" castle repeatedly destroyed by the Lombards, Saracens and in the wars of religion.
For easy access, an episcopal palace was built in the village from 1751 to 1756.
Senez boom reached its maximum in the 19th century when the population approaches a thousand people with a large seminary, a hospital, a court ... From 1840-1850, there has been a steady decline until the population stabilized around 1970 damage.
