The municipality of Semur-en-Auxois is located west of the Gold Coast in the heart of Burgundy, halfway between Paris and Lyon. The city is built on a platform of pink granite, surrounded by Armançon. Semur is the hub of the Morvan, Plains and surrounding Châtillonnais of Autun. Located on secondary road D980 between Montbard and Saulieu, and 6 km from the A6 motorway exit 23. Montbard TGV Station is 19 km. - Municipal Museum Semur-en-Auxois:
- Time for a visit, seduced by the charm of the place and the richness of the collections. Housed in the former convent of the Jacobins (XVII), the museum has its origins in a school of drawing and sculpture founded in 1833. On 3 levels, you'll find collections of geology, zoology and archeology, but also the fine arts, all in an intimate atmosphere of the 19th century.

- Dungeon semurois: The dungeon consists of four large and massive towers. It was rebuilt in the 13th century, dominates the city and reflects the ducal authority. Feel the large size of the dungeon where the inhabitants took refuge in case of siege.
- Tour de l'Orle d'Or (1274): The most imposing towers, the tower or Lourdeault Orle d'Or, 44.30 m high, with walls five feet thick at its base and 2.50 m at the top. Its current name is due to a band of metal that is hemmed in other words adorned the tower and shone like gold. The crack dates from 1602, during the dismantling of the tower and its curtains. - Tour of Hell: We find this name in the Bible, which means hell. Name given to the 19th century. On its facade are still visible traces of tearing of the curtain. Faced with the tower of Gehenna is the theater, one of the smaller theaters in France of Italian style.
- Margot Tour: This is the tower that adjoins the municipal theater. Today, the tower serves as housing for the actors!
- Tour of the prison: As the name suggests, the latter had served as a prison and also to store the salt. Some exercise, from the staircase of the furnace and its 141 steps is the best place to observe and discover. This staircase connected the suburbs to the city high.
- Tour de l'Orle d'Or: Get 5 levels of this impressive building is the headquarters of the League of Historical Sciences and Natural Semur-en-Auxois. You will find inside a museum with an exhibition, a collection of technology, a library, a conference room. Possible visit during the summer.
- Collegiate Church of Notre Dame:
- Discover this majestic church, a real book and bestiary in stone. It was begun from the year 1220 on the site of a Romanesque church founded in the 11th century by Robert 1. Dedicated to the Assumption, the choir is directed to the east. The work ends with the porch in the 1470s. Priory church and college, Notre Dame suffered during the revolution irreparable damage. It was restored in 1846 by Viollet le Duc. By the way, have you found the lion and monkey chained to the railing?

- Proscenium: In 1847 a new hall was opened to replace one of the old comedy. But a fire in 1901 destroyed this new room. The municipality decided right then rebuild in its original style by the architect Hector Marcorelles. The work was completed in 1904 and will offer a monumental fresco ceiling and colorful. In 1987, the theater has undergone a complete restoration. Discover this jewel and its sound during a music concert or a play.
- Walk the ramparts: Discover the promenade wall due to the dismantling of the walls in 1752, this wide avenue of trees is the perfect place to contemplate the suburbs and in particular the small district. You can get in this area by the stairs of the gate.
