5 km from Valenciennes, the Common Saultain is located between the Aunelle and Rhonelle, both tributaries of the Scheldt.
It is crossed by the road from Valenciennes Quesnoy is bounded on the west by an ancient road called positions and is bathed by a source located behind the place determined to be the first people to settle there.
The supposed Abbey: From the 17th century dovecote porch is a historical monument. It is built on the model conceived by the monks and farmers that became the model farm Walloon.
The church of Saint Martin: Rebuilt in the 18th century, it has a single ship, extended by a smaller choir. It presents an alternation of beds of stones and bricks. The brick tower with stone-setting was built in 1880, along with the rectory located at the crossroads.
The Old Town Hall: Town Hall is a "vanguard" inaugurated by the then mayor (1938) Arthur Breucq. This town hall-style Art Deco as a reference in architectural circles.
The ordeal - Dolmen (1890): It is Peter Quintin of Kercadio, pastor of Breton descent that is due this amazing monument. 5 large stones supporting a stone table and is a true copy of dolmens found in Brittany.
The current mayor: Former property of the family Gillard (nineteenth century), it was bought by the municipality in 1994. It is surrounded by a beautiful park of two acres with playground.
The strides spring: Organized Sunday closest to March 21, the race and 23 km of 5.10 annually attracts more than a thousand athletes.
The flea market: It is held every year on May 8 in the streets of the town.
The feast of St John: Held annually on the Saturday closest to June 21, the tradition of giant fire resumed in support of a variety show and attracts thousands of spectators.
Saultain lights: Organized annually two Sundays before Christmas, this event is special mixing light and wonder. Each year a street theater company whisk spectators (over 2,000) in an ambulatory course punctuated with pyrotechnics to a final conflagration of Park Hall.
