Built on a hillside on the banks of the Vienne, Saint-Victurnien is a peaceful city that has been maintaining and enhancing the evidence of his past.
The common Saint-Victurnien owes its name to a hermit who, according to legend, lived in the forest that covered the banks of the Vienne, in the 5th century in this valley called dark. No written tradition only tells the life and death of the hermit.
