Saint-Sulpice, a country house in the Pays de Cocagne.
Bastide from the 13th century Albigensian, Saint-Sulpice is ideally located 30 km from Toulouse and Albi the rose red.
At the door of the Tarn and the Pays de Cocagne, offers a peaceful and welcoming visitors curious history.
Bastide founded in 1247 by Sicard of Alaman, Councillor Raymond VII, at the confluence of the Tarn and Agout Saint-Sulpice has a rich historical past.
Another attraction of Castel Castel, situated on the banks of agouti, with its feudal mound, the traces of its medieval past and its underground shelter remains the most popular neighborhood of Saint-Sulpice.
The castle: Raised on a motte can still be seen today, built by Sicard Alaman of around 1240, the castle was used as housing Bayle and consuls of the city. Destroyed during the wars of religion, we see by far the ruins of the chapel built in 1275 and some parts of the walls of the ramparts.
The medieval underground: Unique in all Midi-Pyrenees, this underground shelter is built in an exceptional state of preservation. Dug at the peak of iron in the castle mound below the castle, 142 meters long, the vaults of the galleries are still perfect. We discover living rooms, elevators, water supply points, niches lamps ... It also tells you the story of the Duchess of Berry, Jeanne de Boulogne, who took refuge in the year 1418 to manufacture counterfeit currency ... and you discover its brand new light ... thrills!
The pigeon and the pigeon museum: To see the ground floor, an exhibition of 51 panels depicting the history of pigeon military warfare 14/18, Indochina, Algeria ... It will also explain their current utility for hospitals, rescue at sea oil rigs ... 1st floor, an exhibit of 30 educational panels on the lives of pigeons (breeding, molting, contests ...) followed by observation the 8 pairs of pigeons fitted to the year for breeding. To close this rich visit, a video on the life of these pigeons, competitive athletes will be presented.
The bell tower: The work of the church began under the lordship of Gaston Phoebus in 1381. This is one of the highest (about 40 m) and most beautiful bell tower of the Tarn.
The Bridge Rustan: This is one of the oldest remnants of the Bastide, former gateway to the city, this arched bridge is remarkable and the 13th century.
Suspension Bridge: Built in 1848, this magnificent structure was restored in 2000 and remains today one of the famous monuments of the mansion.
Space Heritage Office of Tourism: In the offices of the Tourist Office are exposed many tools evoking the old professions: carpenter, carpenter, blacksmith, arçonnerie ... It also shows a very nice collection of old photographs, a space dedicated to the poet Armand Guibert and 9th RCP.
