Who was Saint Pompon? ... The name is linked to the name "Pom", Bishop of Naples in the 6th century.
From prehistory ... The Magdalenian remains have been discovered in caves (closed) underneath the castle Castelviel overlooking the valley Lousse.
Gauls and Romans ... At the time of the Gauls, the town was part of the territory of Pétroccoriens. A mound at a place called "The Fondel" and some other archaeological sites testify. During the Roman conquest, St. Pompon becomes a thoroughfare between Cahors in Périgueux. The Roman road called "Road of the English" located on limestone hills has been damaged by natural gullies.
