At the crossroads of three departments, that are the Lot, Aveyron and Cantal, near Figeac, the valleys of the Lot and Cele with their many interesting villages, country houses and castles, Saint-Perdoux is a small village with a church full of flowers ranked 11th century, surrounded by wooded hills mainly of chestnut.
The name comes from Saint Perdoux certainly the name of the Holy Pardwulf Gueret, whose spelling evolved in Saint Pardoux or Pardulphe. One assumption of the evolution of Saint Pardoux in Saint Perdoux would the monks of Figeac, in the 12th century who disagreed with their Abbot were sent to Saint Perdoux to do penance and seek forgiveness, in patois "démondi perdou". A locality of the town is named after Mas de l'Hort, it was the gardens of the monks.
SIGHTSEEING
The Church of St. Pardulphe, built in the 11th and 12th centuries, the massive and heavy, holds surprises like its semi-circular apse, vaulted "cul de four" lit by three bays which are inserted two pairs of capitals based on double columns. The smaller capitals are probably Byzantine style. Originally dedicated to St. Pardulphe, St. Roch became patron of the parish in the early 15th century. The two saints were venerated and this double patronage was common. Inside the church is a statue and a shrine of Saint Roch.
Saint-Perdoux also has a mining history which unfortunately there remain significant remains.
EVENTS AND CELEBRATIONS
The votive festival takes place August 15 each year and beautiful events are held as equestrian or western medieval type with a portion of the population to suit the occasion, the old threshing machines with steam, an oil mill nut.
Is also organized every year on July 14 that a tourist rally without any notion of speed invites you to discover the region and its attractions.
