Boasting an amazing story, was the capital of Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux Tricastini, Gallic tribe, before being brought up under the Roman Empire from Augustus to the rank of chief town of Narbonne, the gorgeous' Augusta Tricastinorum. It is from this tribe, Tricastini, derives the name Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux is actually a mistranslation of Tricastini in Three castles in Three Castles, which do not exist of course. This period has left archaeological collections of significant cultural interest, property of the Museum of Archaeology Tricastine, updates on major sites such as the Gallo-Roman necropolis Valladas. More than 240 tombs dating from the 1st to 2nd century, beautiful objects of everyday life, elements of ornaments, whole departments of dishes, lamps, oil discovery in the current city a mosaic of a size and of rare beauty.
