Located close to the Parc Naturel Regional de Lorraine, St. Mihiel nestles in a small valley surrounded by woods and forests prone to walks and cycling. In the 12th century it was one of the capitals of the Barrois not moving with its flourishing trade. At the time of the Renaissance, St. Mihiel is enriched with sumptuous facades. The city is also nicknamed "The Little Florence Lorraine". The abbey and its magnificent library, the church of Saint-Etienne and town houses are witnesses.
