This town near Lapleau named after its patron saint: Saint Medard (Sancti-Médard (c. 1315). Médardus, of Germanic origin, was bishop of Noyon in the early Middle Ages (sixth century)).

This lovely village is built on the slope of a wooded plateau. It overlooks the church belfry, it was built between the 13th and 15th century, enlarged and modified over the next two centuries.
